It does act like a strong AM radio station is close by and over powering the 
set. You can get "contact rectification due to bad and corroded grounds in 
the coax line anywhere from outside pole to the set.Disconnect the coax, 
mute it and see.If clears, it's inputting via coax. Disconnect any 
audio/video cables as well and see. If still there, wrap the AC power cord 
tightly around a ferrite core (old flyback core).Put it in video mode to see 
if it is passing thru the RF/IF circuitry.
