While waiting the new STK?s I unplugged and pulled the convergence/audio board and soldered the audio circuit even though it looked good. I had also unplugged and pulled the power supply board and inspected it. When the new STK?s came in I decided I would plug everything back in one more time before I started changing ICs. Convergences were back to normal I could adjust the customer?s crosshatch and tech adjustments and save. The audio was still intermittent in and out. I could flex the board and it would come back in. I unplugged and pulled the board again and soldered, soldered, and soldered. Put the board back in audio was good on both sides but the convergence was out again, no control. Enough to drive you crazy. I got to thinking, which is not easy for this old man, about having the board unplugged for a long time while waiting for the new ICs. When I had plugged them all back in it came back to normal. So I unplugged them all and let set for an hour or so. I plugged them back in and it came back to normal. I don?t know why soldering on the board would cause this. Only thing I can figure is, by unplugging everything let the caps drain down then when I plugged it back in it reinitialized the EPROM. Am I crazy or could that be it. It has been playing for five days now off and on. Looks and stays good. Thanks for the help and setup procedure. Don't want the code available to the public, so you know what I mean, right? If the grid don't come up, it is possible that the DCU got a hit of HV...but I think I'd verify b+ to the conv ic, and since the conv board is separate, you can check the incoming Conv signal is present on the connector at the Conv output board.....that is a + on this unit. I don't know if I can ship schematics, but if you need them, I'll give it a shot...the schematics can be 10 to 20 meg, and my mailbox seems to cut a 20 meg short by 1 or 2 meg...won't ship it if it's over that amount. So we'd have to find a place to transfer that PDF file....as a whole.... The good thing is Samsung breaks down their manuals into 5 meg sections, or less.....I'd have to mail a piece at a time and send the next one after you recieved the first one possibly I might try to send directly to you after I finish this.....
