About a year ago when all this came up I went to the Microsoft site to check
Specs, fine print, prices. XP Home was about $200 US, XP Pro was about $400,
including a license to install on one computer. The OEM version comes
without a license and is intended for people who assemble computers and buy
the license in bulk. On eBay and other sites you see all sorts of combos and
prices but the only one that does you any good is one in a sealed package
with the product ID number. If it has been installed and registered you may
have a problem with Microsoft when you register it again. If you buy an OEM
version you will also have to buy a license to register it.
