I have interchanged these more times than I can remember, there is no
difference period, any size crt. Naturally if U have defective caps, diodes
in circuit neither will work correctly.

It seems this is a definite topic we need to get verified one way or
another. So far we have 3 answers, one stating that is totally
incompatible, one that states it can be used on 19" or under, and one
that states yes it can be used because it can handle heavier amperage.
First question is, can it cause any damage to any chassis if the LA7837
is installed instead of a LA7838? If not, then I am willing to try it
the next time I have a vertical deflection fault with one of these
LA76838 chips.
