Kevin; What can we tell you. You can bring in a lift...which probably has about the same weight. Missing those Repairs will leave you in condition to do the remainder. Nothing worse then having the repairs in the future, and not being able to get out of bed to do them. Period. I don't know which circumstance applies in this set you are asking about, but you either have to charge the customer for the second man, or find some way to pass on the cost of a lift to all your customers. 90% of the sets that are in Bars, are up high, I have never moved these myself. They have always found a way to get them down with staff. Their staff, not mine. The other 10% were mostly brought in. Take it from some of us "Old Guys"...it's just not worth it. If your self-employed Workman's Compensation is usually not an option. -Ed- Ed Gaidies Tel-Tek Electronics Ontario-Canada Servicing the Consumer Electronic Industry since 1963 teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Kevin Sent: Monday, February 16, 2004 9:15 PM To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TechAssist] Re: A question about moving TV's off of a high shelf. My question was, is there any "good" way to move a TV off of a high shelf? By the answers so far, the best way is to have the customer move it for me or to get 2 large men. My problem is I need every repair, so I will have to find a solution that doesn't hurt my back. Kevin; Do as I do...don't do them. Your back is something no amount of money can replace. If I do a Service Call in a Bar or restaurant, if Staff can't put it into a Servicing Position, I don't do them. I don't know how old you are..but a $65 Call can put you out of commission for years, or permanently. I don't really know what your question was, but in this case it's common sense. -Ed- Ed Gaidies Tel-Tek Electronics Ontario-Canada Servicing the Consumer Electronic Industry since 1963 teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Kevin Sent: Monday, February 16, 2004 4:06 PM To: TECH-ASSIST Subject: [TechAssist] A question about moving TV's off of a high shelf. On Friday I went on a service call and the 27" Sony (15 years old) was about 4 to 5 feet off the ground. I tend to have back problems (always pulling muscles), so I was wondering if there was any "good" way to move the TV down off the high shelf without hurting myself. The only way I can think of is for one person to grab the TV from the front while one person on the side helps him down with it. Any other ideas? Putting it back up wasn't as hard as taking it down. Thanks.
