You can configure the MVD in MOVA as either a ped detector, in which
case the demand is normally latched (ie the stage will run even if the
detector subsequently goes off) or as a stopline detector, in which case
latching is down to the SDCODEs used for the link. The former has to be
used if the MVD is used for a (very minor) approach that has no other
detectors (since a lane cannot exist in MOVA without at least an X
detector). There is a way of setting ped dets as unlatched if necessary.

I've not heard of anyone trying to use MVDs as any other MOVA detector
(ie X, IN or OUT), please tell all if you have. However, resist the
temptation as MOVA will is not likely to operate correctly (could even
be quite disastrous!)=20

The answer is that it depends on your configuration.

Generally I would use such a detector by getting the controller to
output a bit when the MVD operates, and this controller output then
becomes an input to MOVA. This input would then be configured to demand
the appropriate stage in MOVA (usually configured as a ped input). I'm
not sure what you would do if you wanted the MVD to extend the stage as
I've never needed that to happen. Maybe John Spence could shed some
light on that. Conversely if you didn't want the MVD to operate in MOVA,
only in say a fallback VA mode then that is obviously possible - just
don't configure the input in MOVA.

Can anyone shed some light on the following ?
=20

If a site running mova picks up a demand from an MVD but not from the
mova loops, will that demand be served ?
