We are also registered Phil.
Not just for UTC but also CCTV and Prefect, which contains some names and
telephone numbers of the general public.
Our Date Protection Officer (who has not seen the system but benefited?
from a comprehensive description by yours
truly is quite happy with doing just that - registering that we maintain
these records.
Obviously, there is the rider that records are not copied to any external
personnel and we make special provision
when (and if) the actual Prefect reports are requested for a court of law.

As well as the day job with traffic signals I am also responsible for our
City Centre
CCTV Security Control Room, and for that we are currently renewing all of
our Codes
of Practice, Procedures Manual etc.
I am acutely aware that our and other UTC control rooms existed long before
the
Data Protection Commissioner (God bless her), and many of you, like me,
have
closed one or both eyes to whether it complies or not. We are at least
registered.
I would like to re-examine this area and would be grateful if any of you
have done
any serious work on it - even if it was to decide to put in it the "too
difficult to do
today" basket. Do any of you record on a regular basis? Do you make
copies? Do
you train staff on DP/Human Rights? Do you have a Code of Practice? Can I
have a
copy?
