I think Will means that the window sticker is a new thing.
Mine also has the plate sticker, but the last time I registered was a
couple of years ago.

When I registered my YOM plates I did not get a window sticker. Only
the metal sticker that attaches to the top left of the year plate.

There's a form that has to be sent in to Austin. Yes, the plates
must not be rust buckets but it depends on the Tax Office you go
to. I found that my local one has anal retentive SFBs running it,
but in the next city they're much nicer and will let "a little
   rust" get by.
You'll also find that most of the Tax Office Buearotards don't
grok Antique stuff. You'll also now have the nice new Window
Sticker to go with it. No tags on the plates anymore.

I have heard of DPS not accepting certain plates that were
       rusty and such.
Easy process. It'll take all of about 5 minutes, after you
       wait in the
       long line.

Sweet - so I just take the title & plates to the clerk and
       voila? Or
do they send something off to Austin?

Yeah it's pricey but I want to get it inspected this
       month so I
   can run the B & W plates I found otherwise I guess I
       would need to
go antique so I wouldn't need an inspection sticker. How
       long does
   that take BTW?

Ya got me on that one James. Never paid much
       attention to
them other than the difference between screw
       terminals and
push ons. Other than that as far as I know they are
       all the
same. I wouldn't pay $45 for that one on the samba
       though.

My 59 is toast. Will a '55-'57 work? It looks
       very close
           to mine:
