again, as i said, you'd think that with the modern technology we have in the 2000's they would use abs plastic instead of wood for alot of those things. much lighter than the wood in our westies Date: Fri, 23 May 2008 17:19:35 -0500From: evilscientistboo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: [tcb] Re: : New evc True, I wasn't comparing the OG Westy kits but yes it can feel like you've got the family riding around in back.As I recall the 95 Eurovan conversion was about 900 lbs unladen heavier than a Eurovan MV. We had a 2002 MV andyou could definitely tell by the gas gauge and handling that you weren't in the same bus. -----Original Message----- From: sammie smith Sent: May 23, 2008 4:22 PM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: : New evc Will: Not true for a split Westy. Panels are all 1/8" birch and cabinets are all thick plywood, like 1/2 or 5/8" (would have to go measure to be sure) but yes the cabinets are covered in formica. At least the above is true for the SO-42. But you are right about the weight. You can feel it when you are driving one compared to a regular bus. Next time I have an SO-42 interior out I will weigh all the pieces. Will Wood <evilscientistboo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Plastic? Those busen had MDF or Pressboard with Formica. You may save a few lbs but think about it. You're carrying probably close to 800 lbs at leastwith the kits involved. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Denning Sent: May 23, 2008 10:51 AM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: : New evc One thing i think you should consider is hopefully with that bus being a 2007 alot of the interior panels are abs plastic instead of the thick 1/2" and 3/4" woods that our old westies have, which will result in a much lighter load Date: Fri, 23 May 2008 09:55:07 -0500From: evilscientistboo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: [tcb] Re: : New evcFeatures schmeatures...I think what everybody forgets is how much "weight" we lug around in a Westy. All the time.If you were a nomad or used it constantly then it would be worth it otherwise it would be like my parentsold Ford Camper. Let's see, a "Dreamer" deluxe camper that weighed in at just under 2100 lbs. Had a full sizecab over bed and a 2 1/2 food drop rear extension. Ahh yes. In the 70s and early 80s it spent most of its timeunder the tree out front. With a 72 Ford F250 with a 390 underneath it mileage was a great 9MPG... Mind you, this was an "upgrade" from the 70 Hardtop Westy my step dad had that he drove daily .They'd also load it up (including the westy) with enough material to outlast the next WOrld War. Clothes, Food, other gear. The westy alone must have had 500 lbs of junk in it all the time.Ahh those were the gold old days.. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Denning Sent: May 23, 2008 9:12 AM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: : New evc man, makes me want to convert my westy to that...i like all the features they showed in that danbury From: treyjung@xxxxxxxxxxxxx: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: [tcb] : New evcDate: Fri, 23 May 2008 13:08:21 +0000 > Have anyone seen this?
