Hey, I worked for Overseas Motors in Ft. Worth for a while and we were the
Southwest distributor and a dealer for those things. Interesting to have a
flat: you raised the suspension all the way up, insert jack into the
appropriate jack hole, then let the suspension all the way down; tire/wheel
would now be suspended in air. No jacking at all.

I saw lots of those when I was stationed in Germany. When they were parked they
looked like low riders. Can't imagine why they never were popular over here.
They're French and so what if a lemon is from the citrus family....

Hell, I would even like to see the Citroen. Best example of freaky French
engineering in the world.

Both actual sportsmobiles (known, stock originals) I've seen and touched also
have the long drivers side window configuration and a pop top, as well as white
laminate on the interior panels, not dark panels like that one looks to have.
To work on a nice stock example of one, to me, was really a treat. Same guy has
a cool Citreon. He's not a show goer, keeps to himself. Wish he was, you guys
would love his bus.

Panels were available without the side vents. Think there is an M code for it
and there are some threads on the samba about it. That said; it is very
unusual to see a panel witout the vents.

As far as I know, sportsmobiles were converted panels. But I can't say that
with 100%. I agree that this looks like a kombi. However, I don't think a 67
panel wouldn't have the side vents. I don't know when that change came about.

Sportsmobiles were converted panels, This one doesn't have the panel vents,
plus those aren't sportmobile side windows. This looks like a kombi that
someone has partially installed a sportsmobile interior in.

Oh Ok, I just read the rest of your letter, about the Sportsmobile. I had a
looong day. I'm not quite firing on all four, but I'll see what I can find.

Any body on the list know there split bus camper conversions? There is a good
break down on theSamba but it isn't complete on some of the lower volume
conversions.
Here is a classified ad. Kinda wonder why the seller thinks this is a
sportsmobile??
