Yep:  When you go non-stock on the old busses you create some problems.  But
the
rear tire changing on the rear even with redux boxes and stock size tires is
not
real easy.  It can be done without a lot of hassle with a normal jack and lug
wrench, but there is just not that much room in there to juggle the tire much.

For Julie I would like to point out there are a couple of very good threads on
this subject on the Samba and maybe you could get some help there about tires
you can run on the DC from there.

Betcha it's not harder to change a wheel than my bus.  Being lowered with a
type
1 swing axle I have to use a small bottle jack between the axle tube and the
frame to make the axle come down far enough to get the wheel off and even then
I
have to take the studs out of the drum for it to clear.  If I don't use the
bottle jack I cannot get the wheel off.

Denis:  63 was first year for the "flared" fender wells on the rear.  62s and
earlier had straight metal there and there is less clearance between fender
well
and tire making it difficult to change the rear wheel with a larger tire.
