Hi Dean,

When I did my test last night, the ninth second was where the first word of
the text was uttered. You don't get this consistently though, because
sometimes it takes longer even for the camera to focus. So none of this is
scientific.

All the best

Steve

after I press down it takes a few seconds for the
camera to snap the picture, then a short pause
before it says preprocessing in books, articles
and labels format. Then a little pause before it
says something like camera is 0 degrees relative
to the page. Then if all is very well which
lately I find it often is it starts to read. I'm
not saying it isn't quick and very good but that
the 9 seconds for me may be a little ambitious as
it doesn't finnish its speech by then.
