Tom:

Thanks for the reply. I would also like to hear more reply from the Studio
Recorder Users. I wonder if I can use this fine equipment you suggest, with
my Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop which I Enjoy.

Once more, thanks a lot and I hope to hear from you and the rest of the
listers very soon.

Best Regards,

Livio Novi.

Livio,

From what you describe, I guess you're just interested in
doing voice recording, that is, no sound effects, no
background music etc. Here's my suggestion for what it's
worth.

First, you need to be in a very quiet room with little or
no ambient noise and no room echo.

Second, you need, at least, a medium quality broadcast
quality microphone, something in the hundred dollar class
and if you can afford three to four hundred dollars it
would be even better.

Third, you need a high quality microphone preamplifier, or
even better, a microphone processor.

You can get by with a moderately priced soundcard but of
course, the better the soundcard is, the better your sound
will be.

You can purchase soundcards that have low noise high
quality microphone inputs but they do get rather expensive
but then you still need a good quality microphone. The
recording you make is only going to sound as good as the
weakest link in the chain. You can have the best soundcard
in the world, the best microphone preamplifier money can
buy, but if you use a five dollar microphone you're going
to have a five dollar sound.

I'd be interested in hearing other comments on this
subject.
