Hi Folks,
Looks like a good group of rowers have kindly signed up for the 6 legs of the
rowing on Sunday 19th. We could really use more rowers especially in the last
2 legs. Don't be shy, step on up for a substantial yet enjoyable row. Will be
nice to row to a destination as opposed to round the St. Andrews harbour. New
members welcome! Sign up on the doodle poll below. Crews need to be made up
soon so please sign up in the next couple days. Go for it :-)
Once crews are made up, everyone on the previous row at Easter was able work
out amongst each other how to get back and forth from arriving at launch points
and making sure the logistical bit of getting back to parked cars were worked
out surprisingly easily. No one was left behind lol.
Best wishes,
Jody

Please see the email below with the information. This is an excellent
opportunity for everyone in the club to have a fun, enjoyable,
non-competitive social row for anyone of any ability rowing, regardless of
whether you are a new member or experienced. The rowing will be with the
tides so do not be put off by the distances. There are 6 different legs of
the trip between approximately 10K and 15K. Recalling the Easter Row which
some of us did this in April, the 15K did not take as long as 2 hours and it
was not a strenuous row. Most of us felt we could easily have done an
additional leg of the trip.
Wormit and Newburgh clubs have been invited.
The row will take off from Broughty Ferry at the Royal Tay Yacht Club, make 3
stops up to Perth and 3 stops back and finishing back at Broughty Ferry.
Most importantly, In order for our club to participate in this row, we will
need someone volunteer to tow the boat and we will need a cox for each leg.
The boats can be left overnight.
In order to assess interest and organise potential crews please add your
name to the doodle poll . The crews will need a five for each leg
including the cox
1. Add your name to the doodle poll in the normal way .
2. Put a 1 beside your name and tick the box for your first choice of the
section to row .
3. Put a 2 beside your name and tick the box for your second choice of
section to row .
4. Put a C beside your name if you can cox a section.
For example;
Jody Payne 1 , Dundee - Balmarino
Jody Payne 2 , Balmarino- Newburgh
Jody Payne C Newburgh - Perth

Thank you very much Frances, I will inform the club and have a doodle poll
organised for our members to sign up for the different legs. I will get back
to you as soon as I can to let you know whether we can join you.
Thanks again,
Jody

Hi Jody at last I have the times and places for the row. We start from RTYC
boathouse at 8.30 am to accommodate the best of the tides.
TIMES AND PLACES OF CHANGEOVERS
Dundee to Balmarino 8.30 - 10.30 (approx 10K)
Balmarino to Newburgh 10.30 - 12.30 (15K)
Newburgh to Perth 12.30 - 2.30 pm (11.5K)
Perth to Newburgh 2.30 - 4.30 (11.5K)
Newburgh to Balmarino 4.30 - 6.30 (15K)
Balmarino - Dundee 6.30 - 8.30 pm (approx 10K)
We have allowed 2 hours for each 'leg' but this may be generous and if the
changeovers or rows are quicker the next leg can be adjusted.
We are hoping that the cox on each leg can row on the next one. We also
thought it would be simpler if everyone brought the own refreshments although
at the end our club will be available for a meal if one is required (we would
need to know this in advance).
Hope this is helpful for you and your rowers.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Frances
