English Accent Game
Today's site, from a language training company, offers a linguistic challenge
to native English speakers in a global community where English is still the
lingua franca of Internet communications. Gentle Subscribers will find an
opportunity to test their knowledge of accents of English from different
countries in this bracing but simple and fun to take quiz.
"How good are you at spotting accents from around the world? Put yourself to
the test in the Language Trainers English Accent Game! Simply listen to a
couple of lines from the poem, take a guess at their country of origin, and see
how high you can score. Can you make it onto the high score table?" - from the

This interesting little quiz serves up sixteen individuals, each reading two
lines from Rudyard Kipling's poem, "If" in English. A number of the
participants are native English speakers from countries around the world where
English is the official language, but for others, although fluent, it is a
second language. To simplify the quiz, the answers are presented in multiple
choice format. Bonus points are awarded if, in addition to getting the country
of origin correct for native English speakers, their cities can be identified
as well.
