5 Takeaways From UN's Global Report on Happiness
Today's site, an article from National Geographic, looks at the recently
released worldwide national happiness analysis done by Columbia University's
Earth Institute under the aegis of the United Nations. Gentle Subscribers will
discover the happiest countries in the world and some of the elements which
contribute to their contentment.

global survey took place between 2010 and 2012 and ranked the happiness levels

Determining national well-being relied on an analysis of a number of pertinent
criteria, among which were health, wealth, freedom of choice for a country's
citizens, along with honest and trustworthy institutions and bureaucracies,
according to the article. Surprisingly, an idyllic climate seems to have played
little part in people's overall happiness, while being able to count on the
generosity of others was a significant metric. The article provides a link to
the complete report available in PDF, while the ranking of all 156 countries
can be found on page 23.
