        Berlin Wall Online

Today's site, from Berlin Wall chronicler Heiko Burkhardt, offers a
comprehensive history of this grim aspect of the post World War Two era. Gentle
Subscribers will find a wealth of material documenting the Berlin Wall's
origins and its final dismantling.

"I have started with this web site in the spring of 1997. ... It is a web site
about the history of the Berlin Wall and Berlin and comes from Berlin in
Germany." - from the website

From its forbidding inception to its jubilant destruction, the presentation
details the history of the Wall. A useful FAQ, maps, facts, and an always
helpful timeline have been included. A special section highlights the the
iconic Checkpoint Charlie crossing point, while the Memories section offers
reminiscences of Westerners and their personal experiences of the divided city.
Showcased in the general Photographs section and the East Side Gallery is the
stark photographic record of post war Berlin and the Wall, from its
construction to its eventual removal.
