Sandra,

You're running Windows Vista, so that 5.4 update has no relevance to you
whatsoever.

Best wishes.

Hello Dave,
Thank you again for all your help. I followed your instructions exactly for
revieling the AppData and putting the sibAccess files and folders into the
right places. It worked like a dream!

I'll take you through what happens on my computer, regarding the 5.2.5
update.
I press enter on check for updates and get this page:
Sibelius 5.2.5 is the latest version of Sibelius 5 for Windows. It's also
the latest for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, but if you are running Mac OS X 10.6
Snow Leopard, you should update to Sibelius 5.4 to ensure optimal
compatibility with your computer. Click here to download >

I "click here", and end up with this:
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard has a number of internal changes that affect how
graphics, such as the various components that constitute the Mixer's
appearance, are loaded and appear internally. A technique used by Sibelius
5, Sibelius First and Sibelius Student to determine the color value of
specific pixels no longer works. Apple implemented a checkfix in Mac OS X
10.6 Snow Leopard for all versions of Sibelius
5 up to and including Sibelius 5.3.x to provide backwards compatibility for
the technique used by Sibelius 5, but unfortunately this fix does not work
correctly, and Sibelius still crashes.
Solution
To fix this problem, follow the instructions below to update your software
to version 5.4. You should only install this update if you are running Mac
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. This update does not otherwise contain any new
features.

Obviously, I followed the "same page links" to Sibelius five, then selected
my language as English, after which, I got this:
Step 1:
Ensure that you have already updated to Sibelius 5.2.5. If you are still
using an earlier version you can update by opening Sibelius, then clicking
'Help', then 'Check for Updates'.
Step 2:
Download the following update, then follow the on-screen instructions to
install it:

Earlier, when I selected my Country from the combo box as United Kingdom, I
didn't even get the bit about Snow Leopard, just a general page about how
amazing Sibelius is.

All the best,
Sandra.
