[SI-LIST] Re: extraction of RLGC matrices from Sigexplorer

Peter,

There is a utility called "spc2spc" that converts the SPECCTRAQuest
simulator netlist into a standard flattened SPICE netlist. With the 14.0
and later releases, the utility has a "-welement" option that causes it to
output transmission lines using the W element model.

Remember that you can't extract a coupled line into SigXp. If you're
building the coupled net model from scratch in SigXp, fine. If you want to
analyze a coupled net from an actual layout, you'll have to run the analysis
in SPECCTRAQuest floorplanner first, then find and convert the SPECCTRAQuest
netlist used to perform that simulation.

In either case, you set yourself into the directory where the SQ simulator
netlist is, and run spc2spc. The arguments are different between 13.6 and
14.0, but "spc2spc -h" should give you the option list.

One last point - for spc2spc to run, a SQ simulator netlist must exist.
That means that SQ/SigXp has already run a simulation, or tried to. If you
never try to analyze anything in SQ/SigXp, it won't bother to build a
netlist.

Hope that helps,

Todd.

Subject: [SI-LIST] extraction of RLGC matrices from Sigexplorer

Hi SI List,
I am currently trying to do some HSPICE simulations on broadside coupled
lines. I do not have access to a field solver to create the necessary
RLGC information needed for the W-Element. We have a spectraquest
license and I had heard that I could export a net from either
sigexplorer to HSPICE compatible format or from a board layout in
spectraquest. Is there anyone who has experience doing this.

I would have contacted cadence, but I believe that there is a quicker
turnaround time on the SI List, that is if someone knows the answer.
Also I thought others may be in a similar situation and would find this
information useful.

Thanks,
Peter
