Umesha, You may want to check out Dr. Howard Johnson's book "Digital Design -- The Hand Book of Black Magic" (the title may not be exactly as I have stated, but you can search on his name and get to his web-site). He gives some quick and dirty calculations for LC parameters for a via based on geometries. Hello Experts, I am simulating a 50 Mhz point to multipoint bus. I am using the following stackup for the board. Board is with 6 planes and 8 signal layers. And I am using vias of dimension 12/25/35 and 10/20/32 (drill/pad/antipad) respectively. Can any one tell the L and C values for these vias. The inner signal layers donot have any pads except where they connect to that signal layer. s1 -------------------------- 0.5 Oz 5 mil S2 -------------------------- 0.5 Oz 6 mil ref XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 0.5 Oz 7 mil s3 ---------------------------- 0.5 Oz 10 mil s4 ---------------------------- 0.5 Oz 7 mil ref XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 1 Oz 4 mil ref VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV 1 Oz 5 mil ref VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV 1 Oz 4 mil ref XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 1 Oz 7 mil s5 ---------------------------- 0.5 Oz 10 mil s6 ---------------------------- 0.5 Oz 7 mil ref xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 0.5 Oz 6 mil s7 ----------------------------- 0.5 Oz 5 mil s8 ------------------------------ 0.5 Oz where ---------------------- signal layer XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Ground layer VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV VCC layer Could somebody please tell me what would be the via capacitance and inductance. Or could somebody tell me what is the capacitance for similar vias or buildups close to the above. I donot have access to field solvers nor am in a position to measure them Infact I am not quite certain how to measure them. Thanks for any help.
