Try http://www.iec.org/online/tutorials/ The 6th tutorial down is Teradyne's, giving lots of discussion and measurement results (but not regarding SMT). Clearly, impedance control is critical with FR4 above 1.? Gbps, especially at the driving end. See the example where drilling out the via stub makes the difference between junk and usable product. It's not clear just any SMT will accomplish this. I would say the conn. vendors could tell you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Haff" <mhaff@xxxxxxx> To: "'Signal Integrity List'" <si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 5:39 PM Subject: [SI-LIST] Surface mount vs. through hole at 1.5 to 3 Gbps > Hi all, > Can anyone offer input or literature recommendations for SI issues related > to I/O connector designs.
