Hello, Deng,

1) Yes. Many tools check for passivity (and causality). Some companies,
such as Teraspeed, have proprietary algorithms to guarantee passivity. I
believe Georgia Tech also has a passivity algorithm.

2) Paul Franzon and Michael Steer at Georgia Tech have done research in this
area. They can point you to other universities and companies working in
this research area.

3) At an undergraduate level (RLC), Bode plots have a linear dB slope and
constant phase when far from poles and zeroes. Similar approaches might be
useful for S-parameters.

Best of luck!

Subject: [SI-LIST] Rational Approximation with passivity enforcement

I am a PhD student and I am doing literature research on the topic of
rational approximation with passivity enforcement.

It seems that the passivity enforcement are almost based on the state
space form with LMI or Hamiltonian matrices for the passivity of either
Y or S parameters.

1) Is there any commercial tool available has passivity enforcement
capability?

2) What is the latest trend on passivity enforcement?

3) How to fix DC value of S parameter during vector fitting process?

Thank you.
