Cherri, Arnica ( Arnica Montana) is an herbal, totally natural, not
a drug, that I would not be without for myself, my friends or my dogs.
It is indicated for inflammation and swelling (this is exactly what pano
is). Surgeons are prescribing it now to be taken just before surgery
and for three days after. Important is that it does not mask the pain,
It reduces the inflammation and swelling, easily seen in X-rays of pano.
It is available in three forms: tablets, tincture, salve. The tablets are
to be dissolved under the tongue ( most dogs do not care for this as
it takes about forty of the tiny things). Although I sometimes use the
salve for my arthritis flare-ups, and it works, the tincture is the best
for most and certainly for the dogs. Four or five drops down the throat
is adequate although the
directions say to put it in a glass of water. The dogs are going to
drink a glass of water ? I'm not even going to do that when I take it
myself. The important thing is that it does not mask the pain,
something I would consider harmful. It is magic for a human turned
ankle, sprained wrist, wrenched knee, etc. The real beauty is that is is
totally safe.

Hi all,
I have a young male (1 1/2 yrs old) who seems to have developd Pano in his
front leg-of course this was 3 days after entries closed on 2 shows he is now
entered in for this coming weekend. My question is--what can I give him to
ease the pain so he dosent limp? I have some tramadol left from my Jenna's
operation last fall--that is an antiinflamitory, non-steroidal pain med-that is
widely used for arthritis in dogs-I could use that-or is there something
else--without spending lots of $ at the vet?
