While a  strict interpretation of the rules would say the judge can DQ a 
dog for  color, because it changes the dog's appearance, the rule book 
actually  addresses this matter in Section 8c.   This section says to  
excuse the dog...so a judge who is reluctant to DQ can excuse, and this

the AKC Rule book:  (please note the last sentence)

Ok, England enforces that, but we don't.  Look at all the colored  chalk, the 
magic markers, the new Panteen styling stuff for brunets the mal  people 
love....(I love snooping in tack boxes, we GSD people are boring compared  to 
most, lol.)
