Super post Chris, as always. :-)
I do think it is important for the GSDCA to have some representation to
the WUSV as we are holders of the breed standard in this country and
"parent club" Also USCA cannot be the parent club (and who would want them
to be)
as they are only a training club, nothing more. That organization is full
of problems,
and it is nothing I would ever want to join.
The WDA became at one timea nice alternative to that for people.
But now the organization has run off the track.
I believe the GSDCA should be involved in every possible aspect of this
great breed,
even Schutzhund. Now that the AKC has given the blessing to working dog
sport,
we can be free of the WDA. They serve no real purpose for the GSDCA , now.
I think that not only could the GSDCA do the club shows and trials , we
SHOULD.
We should become the example of the right way to do it, and give people a
viable
option to the USCA club, and now an option over the WDA.
We have a great many knowledgeable people that are members of the GSDCA
as
well as the WDA..or were.
It will take some time to get it started on the regional level , like all
things, but
I look forward to it.
Eventually I would like to see it added to our Nationals, just like
Agility, Herding, etc.
As for ourselves, we were , WERE proud members of the WDA. We have chosen
not to re-up our membership there. This is not because of the members of
the WDA,
but because of the ongoing problems with it's president, and board. Not
the least of
which what seems to be a total lack of appreciation from Dan, and his board
for what
was a successful World Trial. I say this as I have heard and read from
people that attend
World Trials every year, that all teams were quite satisfied with how it
went. That is great!!
Dan Yee promised
a better, happier, warm fuzzy, welcoming organization...it has been
anything but that, since
he came into office. Transparency is zip. The lawsuit is an abomination,
and an embarrassment
to the WDA, and Dan Yee is out of control. No thank you, and I feel badly
for the WDA membership,
who I am sure don't need more drama. Like the rest of us, I am sure they
would just like to enjoy the dogs.
What a shame, we had great hopes for the WDA. But I won't lose any
sleep over not being a member.
I wish the very best for the GOOD folks in that organization.
Now, GSDCA let's get this party started!
