As I understand it, and I was not in the closed session, Lew took it on
himself to find a solution. For that we should thank him, and not castigate his
efforts. He wanted to find a way to avoid the board being put back into the
situation of having to vote on a very difficult decision. His remedy was
admirable.
Also, what was the terrible situation that you referred to Evan, had this NY
lawyer not been able to work it out with Hunte's lawyers.
That is something no one will ever know. There surely were threats of
litigation, even anti-trust claims. There were threats made against the board,
the
club, and some individuals. Only our directors know for sure, but those who
were the target of those threats can tell you. The ones I know of are on the
List. It would be up to them to respond, not me.
As for those who have maligned our board, let's take time to realize how
hard these people work for us. From the president down, they have given of
themselves to no end, have anguished over this, and have dedicated themselves
for
us. While I might not agree with how things were done, I have never said
anything against the board members. They deserve our thanks, and our future
support.
I did expect to get blasted for my opinion, but I felt it needed to be said.
Please do not interpret it to mean I have lost respect for our board
members. Each of them is a friend, and each of them remains so. We need to
remember
what they do for us, and how little they gain.
Instead of complaining about the individuals, let's respect them, and thank
them for the work. We still can criticize how things were done, without
personal attacks. And, yes, those four did vote against a closed session.
