We couldn't be happier to have Lance in our American pedigrees, who wouldn't be
happy? We are doing outcrosses not to make Lance disappear, quite the
opposite. We've found going out brings back in to the progeny so much of what
was awesome about Lance.
Too much of the same wonderful thing and you lose what you are trying to
capture. We have experienced going out for a generation and coming back in
brings back the wonderful Am. traits we love so much and also brings with it so
much of the wonderful aspects of the German traits as well. Please, don't
start on a jag about crosses, I'm not starting that discussion here. I'm just
saying we love Lance and are trying to keep him going!
We love Lance and what he's done for the breed. The foundation he has put down
is undeniable. To do him justice, we need to preserve him carefully for future
generations.
