Personally I decide what I like and if I feel my dog is worth campaigning I
will
continue as long as it takes. I finished my Ch. Candia's According To Hoyle
at 8 1/2 years of age. Granted, he wasn't really started in the ring until 5.
My dogs seem to mature later. There's a photo of (Fred) on my website
taken a year ago when he was 9 1/2. It's on my dogs page at
candiasgsd.com He can still kick butt at 10 1/2!
