[ SHOWGSD-L ] Judging mistake

On 8-5-05 I judged in Canton Ohio steel city cluster in the course of that
judging in one of my classes an entry did not pass the temperament test it was
a
good size class that had a brief interruption after which i continued judging
at the conclusion of that class I had placed the entry that failed the
temperament test [ I just forgot ] the placing was not first place so it did
not
alter the outcome of the show. This mistake was called to my attention in a
very
respectful way by an exhibitor who knows how hard I am on temperament. I knew
the moment I was told it came rushing back to me what entrant it was. I was
not sure what to do about it. After some thought and at the end of class
judging
I made an announcement to ringside what had happened [without saying what
class or what entry was involved] I apologized for my mistake. Wanting no
novice
to go away from this show thinking this was acceptable. The reason I am
sharing this with the list is [1 ] for anyone who might have been at that show
and
left before my announcement [2 ]
I would like to thank the exhibitor who called it to my attention in such a
nice way. [ 3 ] to encourage anyone showing under me at any future time if you
have a question about something I have done [at the appropriate time] please
ask. [4 ] I would like to have the opinion of the other judges or anyone as to
how other than the way I did would you have handled this.
