It was a few years ago when I called A.K.C. regarding this......but I was told
at the time that they
had no authority over C.K.C. shows and that C.K.C. rules had no authority at
A.K.C. shows.....that
since they were two different Countries and different Organizations the A.K.C.
rules could not
apply to C.K.C. shows as there is no possible way for either to police other
Countries and Org.
They did say that both Clubs advised against any "appearance" of impropriety.
I don't understand why we each got two different responses??

There is a four month rule and a six month rule in Canada that handlers and
judges are expected to
abide by. Four months for simply handling, six if the handler boarded the
dog as well.
It is somewhat reciprocal - I spoke to CKC on this exact matter for someone
only about 4 weeks ago.
US judge, US handler and they come to Canada and either of the above rules
is still in effect. My guess
is that it slips under the carpet unless someone says something.
I do have a current CKC book of dog show rules in PDF if anyone would like
it...
