Yep, the one bitch I am talking about started out with 7 puppies  
(maybe more) shown on the ultrasound. Then she just stopped growing.    
Owner took her in to the repro vet who did the ultra sound...another  
one done and it showed four being reabsorbed and three remaining.  At  
whelping, one was born dead, two alive but one failed on the second  
day leaving one very robust puppy.  Because the owner wanted to try  
again (she previously had had 7 healthy pups)  the bitch was tested  
for mycoplasma, thyroid, total blood work, the works and everything  
came back normal!!!  No explanation about the reabsorption.
