Jimmy,
That sounds like a great idea. I'm sure we could find a way to make this
educational and fun for the boys. The "traffic control" part sort of scares
me. Were you thinking about them holding "Star Party -->" signs? People
drive like idiots and having those young men out there amongst the licensed
idiots makes me nervous. Am I being too much of a kill-joy?
Chris

Would the Board entertain the assistance of a Troup of Boy Scouts (<15) for
traffic control, directions, assistance in the scope area, etc? One of the
requirements for the Astronomy Merit badge lists assisting at a public star
party. I am currently working with Troup 222 in earning that badge. I
obviously would want this body's approval before approaching the Troup to
see if they are available.

Thank you,

Jimmy Ray

Hello Board!
I am looking at Saturday May 7, 2011 as the date for the SAC Public Star
Party at T-Bird Park in Glendale and asking for any feedback, else forever
hold your peace. I don't see any conflicts, excepting Sunday the 8th is
Mother's Day. It will be same arrangements, location, and park entrance as
last year (67th Ave). The event will run from 7 to 10 pm. Sunset 7:15 pm,
waxing crescent, 19% illum, moonset 11:30 pm, 1st qtr on the 10th.
