Just in case Bev has difficulty, I was going to offer to have a look in
the National Library next Tuesday. But I've taken up John's suggestion
and have used 'Ask a Librarian' on the NLA website to see if their
microfilm is readable or if they have hard copy. Let's see what answers
we get and then we can work out whether Bev or I do the deed.

David and Bev,
Ancestry is also missing those two days.
All the evidence so far suggests that there was only ever a single film made, and as David has found, the two days are unreadable. That would explain their absence on Ancestry.
Can I suggest David that you (as an interstate user) try the "ask a librarian" feature on the SLV website (top centre of home page), to have them verify whether their film copy is readable. If not, it will save Bev a trip.
John
I could fit in a trip to the SLV in the next few days, David.

*Subject:* [ryerson_index] The Age 1990
February 1st and 2nd 1990 are missing from my usual source for The Age (Melbourne). Microfilm at the NSW State Library this morning was unreadable for both those dates and the State Library doesn’t retain a hard copy for this paper.
Is any Vic or ACT indexer able to check the National Library in Canberra or the Victorian State Library to see if they have hard copy and might be able to copy the missing death and funeral notices for me please. I suspect that the film was compiled from a badly printed edition and a hard copy may not be any better. Other pages on those dates were fine.

David
