According L.A. Mannheim in his book "The Rolleiflex SL66 and SLX Way",
the SL66 vertical format magazine was made for professionals dedicated
to portraits taken in the upright format and linked to certain
automatic printing systems to have the pictures pre-cropped already on
the film. Anyway, Mannheim also thinks it's better to use the regular
magazine with the 645 mask or marks on the focusing screen where the
vertical format is not required all the time, since the vertical
magazine does not save film. The 645 16/32 exposure roll film magazine
is also available for the SL66 BTW.

John, congratulations for your self-made SL66 35mm adapter, it looks
very interesting to use 35mm film with the SL66 since 35mm magazines
for this camera were only prototypes. Regarding the "panoramic
effect", you can obtain the same effect cropping the 120 image to
54x24mm via enlarger or via scan.
