I'm a little dim on how the whole thing came down...
I saw "The Right Stuff" on the Mercury Astronauts first press conversance
were all coved by guys with Speed Graphics!
It seems sometimes like things went from 4x5 to Leica. Do not pass go....
With some pack flim thrown in the middle.
A Rolleiflex unlike a Speed or Crown you could not hit someone over the head with. It would break. And it did not float. And unlike a Leica would not
fit on your pocket.
You'd think one of the histories of photography I'd read over years would have clarified it by now as I've read few but its still blurry. We've maybe got guys old enough to give a personal account. Inquiring minds like mine
would like to know.
Where did brownie film fit it between sheet and 35?
A big overlap for sure.
Small towns?
Hamlet?

To Rollei or not to Rollei...

However I did see a shot of Sofia Loren comout out of a building into a maze
of Rolleiflexes. Just Rolleiflexes. Many held upside down.

Try holding a Leica or Speed over your head up side down.

I have a beautiful old book by Robert Doisneau called "Robert Doisneau's Paris". Page 88 shows the wedding of Viscountess d'Harcourt. Walking into a crowd and up front 5 photographers all with Rolleis. There is one other photographer standing with them holding a 35mm camera but instead of using it he is watching the photographer next to him use the Rollei.
