The first SLR wide-angle, way back when, was the CZJ 4.5/4cm first produced
for the Kine Exakta in FEB 1939 and then brought out in M42 in AUG 1945.
Mine is T coated and dates from 1948.

And, yes, that need to cleear the mirror explains why the lens was only an
f/4.5!
