Most of my FD lenses came with hoods and cases. Then Canon stopped doing that making hoods accessory items.

I used to be heavily invested in late FD and in early EF gear. I do not recall a single lens which came with a lens hood save for a few teles which had pull-over inbuilt hoods. The 1.4/50 did not come with a hood, and I got into a tense argument with the Canon Rep over this -- he had brought the lens with him to hand-deliver it to me.

Certainly, the 18mm to 55mm zoom on the DSLR I just bought lacks a lens hood, and this lack was noted in the IB.
