[rollei_list] Re: Kodak T Max 400, Rodinal 1+25, 3.5F and Epson 4490

The improvements for flatbed scanners to scan film are
making unnecessary the dedicated film scanners
manufacture, at least for MF and LF (the bests film
scanners have some advantage for 35mm yet).
The 4990 and the v750-700 have 4.00 DMAX; the 4490 and
4990 have two lamps, but the v750-Pro also has two
lenses, depending on the resolution selected, the lens
carriage will switch and the appropriate lens will be
set in place. The v750 also has a fluid mount
accesory, a wet film holder that you could find in
drum scanners only; wet mount scanning is especially
valuable for black and white film, since other scratch
removal technologies, including Digital ICE, are not
effective on monochrome film.
I chose the 4490 because I only do MF and 35mm
photography, and the scanning software is almost the
same for the 4490, the 4990 and the v700-750 models, I
think these three models offer from very good to
excellent scanning quality according the scanned
material, however the v750M Pro is top of the line for
the Epson Perfection models.-

All the best
