As of 7AM this morning, the playa was in near-perfect condition. Seems to
have been 'just enough' rain to tamp down the dust, no visible standing water
that I could see, no visible wet areas. NOTE: I made the mistake of not
driving all the way out to the launch area, I only drove out about 1/2 mile
('cause I'm a dummy), but there was absolutely nothing to worry about.

This is even more surprising because there are several areas along highway 18
coming out past Bear Valley Road that have a fair amount of standing water, and
the road from 247 up to Big Bear appears to have had major mud-slide damage
over the past couple of days. So, unless there is some 'surprise' awaiting us
out at the actual launch area (which I truly don't expect), it looks great.

Weather was beautiful, air was completely calm, I only regret I hadn't
brought anything out to launch... <G>

It takes a lot for the lakebed to be bad this time of year. I 'should' be
able to give a report Friday morning (pending work schedule).
