If not, it's b0rken. > Ok... I never put such an entry in /etc/hosts before, because it never occurred to me to do so. I set this machine up long before I had a LAN, when I was still on dial-up, and at that time, was still clueless about Linux in general. Even today, this still does not quite 'compute' for me, because this machine is using a public IP address that does not resolve to any actual domain name... it is just a Desktop machine, and the public IP addy it uses, does not resolve to any registered domain name. Just for the heck of, to see what happens, I did add the line: 192.168.1.3 robertwittig.org ...to /etc/hosts, and I rebooted the machine. Now I will post this, and examine my email header, to see what happened. -- -wittig http://www.robertwittig.com/ . http://robertwittig.net/ -- You are receiving this message as part of your subscription to the "ringzero" mailing list at freelists.org.
