Boy you weren't kidding, you've got the yellow car losing it's skin, a
wheel running around loose, and that little blue fv sliding. I like the
smoke coming off the black fv with the red helmet. I hope no one got it
by that flying wheel. Good stuff!!!

That is a nice angle on turn one, you used your lens well.

Thanks for sharing. Were there any really interesting cars there? Did
that guy bring his white Fiat X1/9 down from Montana?

Here is one shot I got at the salt, but as you can see, too far away for
much clarity.

Larry

The thing that I like about the flats is all of the cars in the viewing
area, pit and on the line up for the start. I agree that you really
need a super long lens for the cars making a run and even then mostly
what you have is a car on a bunch of white.

I am attaching a quick couple of photos of the F. Vee turn one
schmazzale.

        Paul,

        Your certainly welcome!!! (Humor)

Congrats on all the sales, that is outstanding!!!! The racing
sounded fun too, sorry I missed it.

I basically had a choice to make, go to miller, piss off wife,
go out to the salt flats with the whole family, make wife and family
happy, enjoy new experience.

Monetarily I probably made the wrong choice, I probably should
have pissed of the wife and competed with you for the $$$$ at miller
(not much competition when I don't really care though huh?).

But we had a great time at the salt. I have never even been out
there before, racing or no racing. It was very interesting. Perfect day,
overcast and 65 degrees.

I called up Ray and hung out with him for a while before we had
to leave, but I asked him a ton of questions and really enjoyed the
interesting cars out there. The cars running around the viewing area and
the pits were almost as interesting as the racers. Rat Rods everywhere,
and soooo interesting mechanically.

It was a long drive for my boys, but fun. I could feel the pull
to want to get a car and go fast, kind of infectious actually. But a
quick look at my wallet overcame the infection.

I am still cleaning salt off the old minivan we drove out there,
what a mess.

Your shots of that lime green Radical are awesome (I hate that
word, but it actually came out of my mouth when I saw those two shots
you posted) Nice work!!!

Are you going to post any from the SCCA event? Please!!!

It seems like I miss the SCCA event every year, not sure about
the carma on that, but do post a bunch of pics.

I didn't do much shooting at the salt flats. My lens is too
short. The cars are too far away for good quality shooting while on
track. I didn't have much time to walk around and talk to many racers
and shoot many cars in the pits. I was amazed at how high I could set
the shutter speeds before it would bottom out on the apature though, I
was shooting at 1/2000 of a second with an ISO of 320 an the apature was
no where near the bottom. Lots of light off that salt!!!!

Ray, I look forward to seeing what you shot out there. I'll go
through my shots and send a couple out if I find anything interesting. I
only shot about 60 pictures.

        See Ya

I just wanted to send thanks to Ray and Larry for not showing up
at Miller this weekend. Pretty good racing. I didn't have to hustle
for sales. They were just throwing money my way. No S---. I sold six
20 X 30's. My price was $50.00 for one and $40.00 each for two or more.
I sold three sets of two and even of shots that did not have their car
in it.

Do you remember my shot of the ALMS start that I took for the
end of the straight? Sold two of the on the spot.

The FV and SRF caused some excitement in turn one lap one when a
SRF tapped a FV causing it to spin. A total one SRF and three FV's were
taken out on turn one. I was there for most of it. That was 1/2 of the
FV field. There was almost a fist fight in the paddock. Officials put
a stop to it.

Another lady came by and wanted an 8 x10 or 11 x 14 of her
husbands car. I told her that I don't do small photos. She is going to
buy a 20 X 30, $50.00 + $10.00 shipping and handling. The Radical
driver are buying several CD's.

All in all it was a pretty good weekend.

Let us know how you did on the Flats Ray$$

        Paul
