Hi Dirk,
I agree. Lowering the rear mass decreases the moment about the rear contact
patch (like a shorted, inverted pendulum) and also shifts mass back, which my
preliminary runs showed to always decrease the stable range. It might be the
main advantage of the Traylors, having mass mostly over the front wheel.
Trail and angle really define the bike, I don't think BB-seat length would be
much influence. It would only slightly decrease the distance from the front
mass to the pivot axis.
