OK... Air pump...... that squeals.... Squealing usually means that a bearing is going out. There are 2 bearings on an electrical motor... replacing them is not a DIY project ( bearings are hard to remove and new bearings may be nearly impossible for a "normal" person to find..... You might want to bring the motor to an electrical motor shop and ask them what to do......they may be able to cheaply replace the bearings.... assuming that is the problem..... Your other and obviously more $$$ plan would be to replace the motor..... the motor shop should be able to help you. The other possibility is an unbalanced fan blade. The motor shop may also be able to help you with this.... the blades can be re-balanced, but you probably need an old timer to do this. My reference to the output port has to do with the motor and fan, NOT the enlarger. There is a "hose" that goes from the pump to the head.... Under the connection on the pump, there is probably a spider web looking like metal thingie... it is used to keep fingers away from the fan blades..... this is the part that may need to be tightened to the chassis or removed to cut noise. Comment.... as nice as the guys at the photo repair places are, they are not knowledgeable in motors. I suggest you need a motor shop to get this fixed at a reasonable price. Getting the motor at the photo place is likely to cost significantly more. Frank Filippone red735i@xxxxxxxxxxxxx There is a high pitched squeal. The air movement noise is not too bothersome. There is no output duct right now, and a guy at Odyssey Sales in the UK suggested that putting ducting on the output part would actually reduce the noise. I haven't tried this yet though. --shannon ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
