I also run Thunderbird. Depending on the list it has a Reply and
also a Reply List button but on some lists only a reply button. I
suppose it depends on what is in the header. On some lists reply goes
only to the original sender and in some goes to the list. The radio
list I mentioned before was set up so that sending to the list required
cutting and pasting the list address into the To field. I think this is
a very bad idea but the list owner seemed to like it. I have not
encountered this elsewhere.

Mail clients, like Thunderbird, already have a button called "reply"
that replies to the sender only (if the email headers are correct, which
is up to the list configuration) and a button called "reply-all" that replies
to all.
It's not the first time this issue has come up in the 40-year history of email :-)
