Subject: [pure-silver] Kodak reference for using selenium toner as an alternative to ST-1 test solution

Going through the pure-silver archives, I came across a reference from 2007 by Richard Knoppow suggesting that at one time Kodak recommended using KRST diluted 1:9 as an alternative to the ST-1 solution (testing for residual silver) but no longer do. Is there a reference for this information?

Its in some editions of the _Kodak Black and White Darkroom Dataguide_ and probably elswere. I don't have the citation at hand. Kodak eventually dropped this recommendation since the test will fail where there is a large amount of hypo in the emulsion where the sulfide test does not. For prints or negatives that are well washed the test works well.
