Hi Richard,
Actually, I don't know who is the culprit here. B&H in New York had
this note attached to their listing for Diafine.
"Due to shipping regulations, we cannot ship this item at this time. It
can only be bought in our store"
Guess the US Postal service is getting itchy feet also.
I just checked the web site you noted below and, as you pointed out,
there is no indication that it is in any way a hazardous material and
yet there is a note in the Acufine section:
"OBTAIN MEDICAL ATTENTION IN ALL CASES"
If it's not dangerous, why seek medical help, unless it is a disclaimer
to avoid any potential lawsuits, like the woman who sued (and won)
MacDonalds because their coffee was too hot and she burnt her thighs
when holding the cup of coffee between her legs while driving. Will
wonders never cease.
Maybe one day, some kid will eat some Diafine and the parents will sue
Acufine because the container was not baby proof. Who knows!
Cheers,
Bogdan

Hi,
I've found out, much to my regret, that Diafine is no
longer available in Canada. I wanted to get some to
develop some 16mm microfilm that i have been shooting in a
Mamiya-16 and Minolta-16 II.
It is available in the US, at Freestyle and B&H. B&H
states quite clearly that they will not ship and that you
have to come to pick it up at the store; Freestyle tells
me that they can't ship Diafine to Canada because it is
considered a hazmat and there are to many obstacles and
too expensive to ship a hazmat.
I did a search in Google to see if the formula is
available; the chemicals I can get locally. But all I got
was several two part developer substitutes for Diafine but
not the actual formula. Is it some sort of state
secret???
Would anybody in the group have the formula for Diafine?
Cheers,
bogdan

The MSDS does not indicate any hazardous ingredients in

that it upsetting the canadians.
