As I used to tell my students when I would hand back their essays:
"Shit that looks impressive is still shit"
Yeah, but:
o Sometimes Teach can't tell shit from Shinola
o Sometimes Teach doesn't care
o Shit that looks like shit is worse than shit
that looks impressive
An old engineering proverb: "If it doesn't work,
chrome it." The boss comes by and sees a mess that
doesn't work he figures you aren't doing your
job. The boss comes by and sees something that
looks like it belongs on the space shuttle but
doesn't work he figures you are doing a great
job and just have a glitch or too work out.
This sometimes works too well, boss tells
marketing "Design's finished, looks great,
start taking orders. We'll have it pouring
out of the factory by Wednesday."
