Hi Andy,

If your recording in a noisy environment, set the background noise level
to high.

Is noise level about backgroun noise level to the recording? so if I'm
recording where there is a lot of background or outside noise, do I set the
noise level to high, or do I set it to low to reduce it?

Hi Andy,

To make the Plextalk set the phrase markers more accurate, you can also
set the noise level to low, normal or high.

To jump in ten minute intervals, select time with the two and eight keys
and then press and hold four or six.

Can I jump in here? What do I need to have the split phrase and section
options set to, in order to be able to split a recording in it's smaller
bits? I find when trying to use the cut phrase feature, I can't get
enough
control over what I cut, the use of the 4 and 6 keys, want to cut bigger
phrases than I want to lose! I know in the custom settings, I can have a
new
phrase created when there is not sound for as shorter time as 0.2
seconds,
but think I might be doing something wrong, as the phrases to cut seem
much
larger than this! And just while I'm here, can you tell me how to use the
jump forwards or backwards in chunks of 10 minutes?

Many thanks

Andy

Penny,

you can indeed edit a CD on the Plextalk, it doesn't matter, whether
it'S a CD-R or a CD-RW, that's one of the outstanding Plextalk features.
As you correctly state, one cannot erase stuff on a CD-R and one can
only delete a complete CD-RW, no partial erases are possible. So how can
one remove errors, overwrite mistakes and so on? The Plextalk uses the
multisession technique for that. Whenever one modifies the structure of
a DAISY title on a CD, new versions of the DAISY index files are written
to the CD. The files are firstly modified in the Plextalk memory and if
one turns the unit off or selects "save edited information" in the edit
menu, the new index files are written to the CD.

I have consistently recorded stuff to my CF card or the other card
for the plex 1 rather than recording directly to a cd. Then if I
make an error, I can edit the result and then dump it onto CD. I do
this because I believed that one could not edit a CD once it has been
written to--why, by the very nature of the CDR, it is uneditable,
right?
The only way to edit a cd is to use a CDRW, right? And even then,
can you only erase what is there and start over or use it a second
time, like a clean slate?

Am I wrong or can a cd be edited somehow using the plextalk?

Thanks for any response.

Penny
