It's been a while since my last FWAC update, but don't worry, I've been hammering away at it. It's in the usual place: http://www.geocities.com/iainsmith/ActionChart/ActionChart.jar And can be run in the usual manner: java -jar ActionChart.jar I've made several major changes in this release: * Added menu structure, running Action Chart will now ask you if you want to start a new game or load an existing one, rather than dump you straight into the chart itself. Loading from here doensn't work yet, I'm still working on a few bugs in the load/save system. * Added character generation wizard. When starting a new game, you can either jump to an empty Action Chart where you can enter the values manually, or go through a wizard which will roll relevant values and let you select skills and items. While the wizard steps are currently working they don't actually feed into the main sheet yet, I'm still working on that. * Added standalone mode. When starting a new game you get the option to use the integrated viewer or standalone mode. When in standalone mode, controls which are normally on the viewer window (load/save/random) are added to action chart, along with a text box for saving the current page. Loading/Saving in standalone mode isn't working yet, something I'm also still working on. ToDo: * Fix Load/Save so that it works in standalone mode, link up load button in main menu. * Complete routines to feed Wizard generated character values into the Action Chart * Spruce up icons in wizard. If anyone with graphic talent wants to work on these, let me know and I'll upload the GIFs. * Add routines to load the title.htm for the relevant book, starting by looking in the default folder (01HH, 02SMR, 03TOZ, 04CC), then if folder is not found, ask for path. * Remove modifier spinner controls for skill modifiers, since they're not needed, add a single read-only modifier to the Stealth skill, then set it according to current inventory. * Add validation to all remaining Action Chart controls. * Tidy up layout. Topics which I think need debating: * Officially you're supposed to have 4 skill points to spend, plus 4 addional skill points when you complete a book. This was a little difficult to handle in the wizard, so I've taken the simplistic route of simply allowing (4*book_number) points when creating a character (so creating a new character for TOZ will give you 12 skill points to spend). Is this acceptable?? As always, constructive comments are appreciated. Iain. __________________________________ Yahoo! FareChase: Search multiple travel sites in one click. http://farechase.yahoo.com
