I like how it works at the command line. I like how fast the internet is with NVDA but it does seem to crash a lot. Finally and unfortunately thedeal breaker it don't work with some of my editors and I can't live without them yet. Of course we will see I am starting on my way back to things likevi and emacs at the command line under my vmware box so maybe NVDA will be able to handle it. If you don't like the voices go to www.nextup.com andget a few that will work with it nicely you can get sapi versions of Nuanceand AT&t etc. Ken -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of qubit Sent: Friday, April 23, 2010 7:34 PM To: bprogramming Subject: NVDA Hi all -- Hey, I just tried NVDA for the first time this year and am impressed -- it's really come a long way. I like the navigation options and features compared to jaws or WE. The only thing I can't stand is the synth. I can't distinguish many of the hard consonant sounds -- like t versus d or p etc. I have to go out of the way to read the ascii value. But other than that it is quite nice -- especially for the price *smile* Anyone else have comments? Is there a mailing list for NVDA users or developers? I know, I'll check the webpage. Happy listening all. --le __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind
